Craziness Faith: You Have It or You Don’t
Leatrice M. De Bruhl’s memoir of trauma, injustice, loss and the faith that carried her through. Plus her chapter in the anthology In the Pursuit of Fearless Living.
Where is God in the middle of suffering?
In Craziness Faith, Leatrice De Bruhl shares a powerful and deeply personal journey through trauma, injustice, loss and unimaginable heartbreak. From surviving abuse and navigating a successful career clouded by suspicion and unjust accusations, to facing relentless public scrutiny and eventual incarceration, she endured seasons that tested every ounce of her faith.
Yet the greatest heartbreak came with the devastating loss of her beloved son, Malik, known as Leek. In the midst of overwhelming grief and unanswered questions, she wrestled with the same question many people quietly carry: where is God in the middle of suffering?
Craziness Faith is not about perfect belief. It is about the kind of faith that looks impossible to the world. Sometimes the faith that looks the craziest is the faith that carries us through.

A crown, a badge, a Bible, and a pair of handcuffs
The front cover says in one photograph what the book takes chapters to tell. Leatrice stands on an open road at sunset wearing a crown, a badge at her waist, a Bible under one arm and a pair of handcuffs in the other hand, with her son’s name, Leek, on her arm. Every one of those objects is a season of her life, and she chose to carry all of them into the picture rather than hide any of them.
The back cover is the book’s own invitation: it is for people who are grieving deep loss, healing from trauma, or searching for hope.
In the Pursuit of Fearless Living
