Carry it with grace. Grow through it together, not alone.
Grace to Grieve is the signature movement of Phenomenal B.L.A.Qu.E. Women: compassionate grief coaching, mentorship and support for people navigating loss, with a particular heart for grieving mothers.
A grieving mother built this for grieving mothers
Leatrice De Bruhl lost her son, Malik, known as Leek. She writes about it in Craziness Faith as the heartbreak that outweighed everything else she had survived. In the middle of overwhelming grief and unanswered questions, she wrestled with the question many people carry quietly: where is God in the middle of suffering?
What she needed in that season was not a textbook and not another person saying “I’m sorry for your loss.” She needed someone who had buried a child and was still standing, still believing, still able to say what the next day could look like. Grace to Grieve is her decision to be that person for someone else.
Grief is inevitable in life. We learn to carry it with grace. As we push through our healing, we honor the ones we love. We should choose to rise.
The three movements of Grace to Grieve
Grief does not run on a schedule, and these are not steps you finish and file away. They are the three things Leatrice walks through with you, in whatever order your loss demands.
Embrace the reality of loss
Learning to acknowledge your grief without shame, denial or suppression. Creating space for honesty and healing, including the anger and the questions.
Find strength in the valley
Building emotional resilience, faith and healthy coping tools so you can carry grief without being consumed by it. The valley is real; so is the strength that grows there.
Transform pain into purpose
Discovering meaning in the journey, honoring your loved one, and creating a pathway forward with renewed hope. Loss into legacy.
Coaching, mentorship and someone in your corner
- One-on-one grief coaching
- Regular conversations by phone or video with Leatrice, a certified grief coach, built around where you are this week, not a workbook. Faith-based, candid and unhurried.
- Mentorship for the long road
- Grief changes shape over years. Ongoing mentorship for the seasons after the casseroles stop: birthdays, anniversaries, the first time you laugh again and feel guilty for it.
- Support for grieving mothers
- A particular heart for women who have lost a child. A mother who has walked this road, speaking honestly about how she kept living.
- Speaking for groups touched by loss
- Churches, support groups, organizations and events that want a speaker who can talk about grief without clichés. See speaking.
When life knocked me down, sympathy was easy to find. What I needed was a sister who knew the way out.Leatrice De Bruhl
You do not have to explain it well
Write what you can. Who you lost, how long ago if you want to say, and what the hardest part is right now. Leatrice will reach back out within a business day, and the first conversation is simply that: a conversation, to see whether walking together makes sense.
